The specs say this has 2 audio zones but looking at the back panel I only see connections for the 5 primary surround sound speakers and the subwoofer. I take it that there is only 1 audio zone/room. null

You need another amp in order to use the second zone

It has an A/B switch and you can choose either or both but it doesn't have speaker terminals. It does have Zone B RC outs on the back. I would go to Onkyo USA's website and grab the owners manual. It is very thorough and I think it should answer your question.

There 2 zones. 2 extra speakers can be added to the 2nd zone

Yes you are correct only 1 zone
