You can attach a regular phone.

You would say "Alexa, ask Ooma to call Mom" or "Alexa call 555-XXX-XXXX. And Ooma would dial the telephone number and then both your sisters phone and the person she called phone will ring and all your sister has to do is pickup her phone when it rings and the person she called will be on the other end. This concept sounds great for hands=free calling, unfortunately it didn't work for me. I have the Ooma Telo and several Amazon Echo dots. When I tried to link my Ooma and Amazon accounts, using the Ooma skill in the Alexa app on my mobile phone, the process failled. I noticed in the reviews written by other people, many of them had the same problem. Eventually, the problem will be corrected, but don't wait for it. Another option would be to just use Amazon Echo dot or Echo Show devices, but all of the family members your sister wish to communicate with would also need to have an Echo dot or Echo Show device. So, if you choose to use the Echo devices, all your sister would need to do is say "Alexa, drop in on Mom" and your Mom would hear a chime coming from her Echo dot through the Echo speaker. It's called "Drop in". My husband and I use it multiple times throughout the day in the same house although your sister and Mom would be in their own homes. It's similar to using an intercom device. If you do go this route, get the Echo Show instead of the Echo Dot. Then your Mom or you can see your sister every time you talk to her. Also, these devices have so much more functionality then just making phone calls. I hope this information was helpful. Also, if you are interested in "Drop in", here's a link where you can read about it. Also, you can find some YouTube videos about it. https://techgadgetscanada.com/how-to-set-up-video-calling-on-amazon-echo-show-from-one-house-to-another/

It is a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) bridge that allows you to connect any standard phone, say a cordless set or use the app on a cell phone to answer or make calls. Does voicemail etc. Haven't tried, but the app may allow voice dialing or receiving via Siri.
