“I picked one up a stereo for 169.00 at BB but I had to purchase a PAC kit that was 159.00. My question is if this stereo is replacing a stock radio on a 03 Tahoe that doesn’t have steering wheel functions or onstar, is this really necessary???”

The interface is required to provide accessory power for the aftermarket radio, which is not in the factory harness. It is also required to maintain the integrity of the Class2 data bus in the truck, in which it also gets its signal to provide the accessory power for the aftermarket radio
