The unit is super easy to block calls. There is a dedicated button marked "Call Block" and all you do is push that button." It does do the 'one ring' and that can be silenced according to Page 27 of the manual. Also says 150 numbers can be blocked. . This new unit replaces the previous Panasonic system I had for 8 years. It is new and improved. Hope this helps.

You have the option once a number has been blocked to set the system to silence the first ring from any blocked number. Otherwise it would ring one time while the number is checked against your blocked list, then stop. Setting it to not ring at all for the first ring is a step saver. BTW, this phone system is great!
