No window, but a red light on the front that will blink when its needs water. Lasted 2 small dogs that drink a lot of water 3 days.

With two small cats who love to drink a lot, if I fill it to the maximum fill line, it lasts between 5-6 days before running out. I just pick it up once a day after it's been 4 days to see how empty it feels. I wish I had a better answer for you. The good news is my cats love it and drink tons of water!
