• Yes, both echo and dot are effectively the same, aside from one having a better speaker. Any of the light systems that work with one should work with the other as well.

• Yes, I have both the echo and two dots and they work great with my hue lighting. I'm able to walk into my office and tell Alexa (on the Office Dot) to turn on the office lights. If I'm in the kitchen, I can tell Alexa (on the Kitchen Echo) to turn on all lights or if I'm headed into the bed room I can tell Alexa (on the Master Bedroom Dot) to Turn the Master lights on. All work perfectly. You can control any hue light or group of lights on your system from any Echo or Dot on your system. I hope this helps. Thanks, Dave
