It depends on the fixture. I have mine located in an enclosed ceiling Fan fixture
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is NOT recommended. You may be able to get away with it, but the bulbs will generate some heat. If the fixture is too tightly sealed, you'll cook the supporting electronics.

They are very lower power and generate very little heat, whereas a halogen or even standard incandescent bulb would expel far too much heat to safely exist within an enclosed housing.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yup! These bulbs are super low temperature. The only problem I've had was with one in a clip lamp pointing down, and ithe *base* got incredibly hot.
