• Adhesive pre installed in the back side, covered until your ready to stick it to a clean smooth surface

• A strip of thin double sided tape is on the back of the light

• I had the same concerns, I purchased two and am impressed at the fact is has stuck to two different types of surfaces with no issues. A metel frame around a sliding door , and the paint on the wall .. it's only been a few weeks but so far, so good. I am curious when I move and have to remove them jf the stickiness will stay intact fkr new home... Hope this answers your question.
