Yes and no. The strip can be use in a single orientation such as along the top or bottom, but you can not wrap 3 sides of the TV like with the play strip.

Yes, you could use it behind a TV, and the same options for syncing to video work.

These, however, for that purpose, must be entirely straight (horizontally above or below the display or vertically to the side.) The Hue Play ones are exactly the opposite. They MUST be curved around the corners of the display to form top and sides.

From my understanding the only difference is that the play kit comes with the curved mounts. I could be wrong but that is the only thing I’ve noticed.

yes, but it won’t sync to the tv as well as the Philips Hue Play Gradient lightship & won’t mount as easy, but this one is cheaper
