Three of these would be plenty and yes they all sync up. They come with their own connecting parts so they become one and they all operate together. Keep in mind that these strips have specific areas where you need to cut when trimming them to size so you will not be able to go to the very edge of the back of the tv. That's o.k. though, these lights are awesome and super bright. I have two of the Phillips Hue Play lights on the back of my 82 and they provide more than enough.
