Yes, it can be used in your bedroom. When you set it up it can be program how bright that you want your lights to be at certain times of the as well as how long you want the lights to stay on when no motion is detected.

You can set the motion sensor to do nothing from say 11pm to 7am so that when you move at night the lights will stay off.

I would not recommend putting it in your room.

The sensor will pick up your movements in bed and give you a rude awakening.

Better for stairwells, kitchens, offices.

The sensor picks up any movement that crosses its path. So if you place it correctly at the door way it will. Not sure of the range of the sensor, you should look that up on the Phillip's hue web sit. To control the length of time the light stays on and the brightness levels use the hue app.

You can set the motion sensor to only pick up motion during certain times of day or certain amounts of light. For example you can have the motion censor only work from 3 pm to 9 pm if you want. You can also control the sensitivity of the motion sensor, so it will not pick up your animals. It’s a very easy set up and there’s so many ways you can customize it.

You can set the time when the lights go off or dim. I have used it while sitting on the couch and it doesn't active unless I got up. So it is no super sensitive so there should be any worry that it is going to go off when you are asleep.
