Because this motion sensor has a temp sensor as well and didn't advertise that.

A far as I could tell HomeKit just uses this to basically show you room temperature, but doesn’t let you trigger automations based on the hue temp (eg Cant say “when temp in bedroom below X degrees set thermostat to Y”).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Philips built a temperature sensor into the device. They didn't play that up, for some reason, but it's there and works. I imagine it's generally for setting specific light scenes based on room temperature.

Please try again later.The Hue motion sensor displays 3 values. 1) It detects motion 2) It detects temperature 3) It measures the amount of ambient light in the room (displayed in lux). All 3 values will display in Apple HomeKit. It may look like 3 different sensors, but you will notice the sensor name remains the same.

Please try again later.That is the same in the Android app, some of these are in children's rooms and Hue/Phillips added that feature so that you could monitor the temperature in the baby's room. See Hue/Phillips FAQ's on the subject. I believe that there is an app within the Hue/Phillips system for setting up a routine to directly monitor the temperature in rooms that these are installed in. I do not care, I use a temperature and water sensor that is associated with my security system that will alert me if there is an issue throughout every room with a sink, washer, hot water heater, dishwasher or hot tub, so I have not activated this routine from Hue Labs.
