Do these need to connect to WiFi to work? null

They will work without wifi but you won’t be able to change the color or brightness. You will only get the traditional yellowish color. You will need the Philips hue bridge to connect it to wifi

Yes you will need a WiFi connection to control them and the sync box to sync with your tv.
