Best Purchase I’ve made in a decade

I took a leap of faith from a friend and decided to try these lights for my new house. Never would I have thought the way I view watching television or gaming would be changed forever. This contains two mountable RGB led lights to place behind a monitor or television that’s fully customizable to whatever colors your heart desires. Having two lights means you can create multiple color zones behind your screen to make any picture amaze yourself and any company you have over forever. Setup is pretty easy, however I recommend you take the time to hide hanging wires properly or you won’t get the full immersion. These lights are controlled by smart phone (or desktop computer) and the app is amazing. The sky truly is the limit with whatever you want to design, and it also comes with easily changeable premade color loadouts. Once you buy this, I’m sure you’ll be as enthralled as I was and want more out of it. I also purchased a Hue SYNC box with this. What this does, is the box recognizes the primary color being displayed on your television and duplicates it. This meaning your lights will be changing as the scene on your television does. However, these lights are pricey and it would make the average consumer reluctant in purchasing this I have to also say to use these lights you need to also purchase the Phillips hue bridge to be able to use this which is mildly inconvenient but once you set up your lights you won’t be upset about the hole in your pocket one bit. :)

A bit expensive and I wish they where longer but completely worth it. I've built my own addressable LED setups with Arduino before and it's totally possible to get the same look for cheaper but what makes this better is the functionality and compatibility with multiple different platforms and your not getting stuck doing all the heavy lifting in the form of integration because Philips constantly updates the devices with their own patch work. They are adding more 3rd party partners as well which is cool. The video mode through Windows is absolutely amazing if set up right as well. I would recommend these but also recommend Philips to MAKE A LARGER SET!!! lol

These are not cheap ! Once you start it never ends.. these are the best in my opinion. If you buy these get the full kit with the bridge included. The bridge by itself is $59.99 + $119.99 for two pieces. I liked them so much I bought a 3rd the next day. If you have a 65 or more I’d recommend. I included a pic of the back of my Sony Oled. The app is so easy to use, you learn your way around quick also changing millions of your colors are easy. Then... it happens ! I have two lamps that reside over my Blu ray collection, I knew these Hue bulbs existed so I bought two, I paid like $80 for them (Ouch) on sale at Target for 20% off , I did not tell the wife.. she would not understand, lol $80 for two light bulbs ? What ? Took them home paired them to the app and I was set, worked great for 2 days but something was missing. A corner of my home theater was dark, so I thought for a moment. It happed again,.. I went to Walmart and purchased a floor lamp, went back to Target to get another Hue color bulb 20% off. Went home assembly required and put the $40 bulb in.. paired it to the app, super easy... Perfect problem solved !! I included pics of my lighting.. it adds perfect ambiance. I watched a horror movie with the room lit in red.. scared the heck out of me. My system continues to evolve.. Hope this helps.

It’s easy to set up, allows to select through a huge color wheel. It adds a nice ambiance to my living room. Allows you select one color on both lights or two different colors. With the Hue app I can select different presets with just a press. I have an LG and the rear allow the lights to be placed on the tv itself, I have it placed horizontal and it looks great. But it can also be placed vertically, it comes with a stand. Glad I purchased this.

I've always loved the simplicity and reliability of the philips hue products. I use them for both personal and professional environments where ease of use is top of mind for myself oflr my clients. Every product integrates seamlessly with the app, and as long as you have a reliable wifi network, it rarely fails. In fact, the app is the best part given how intuitive and user friendly the interface is. I will state that their products are not rhe cheapest on the market, but it's the difference between driving a 15 year old economy car and a modern entry luxury car in the sense that they are elegant in design, no frills, and loaded with software features that just work.

Great ambient lights, easy to install

These lights were very easy to set up and install. There are multiple options to do it - you can lay them on their sides and project up under the TV, mount them on a stand and project them out to the sides under the TV, or mount them on the stand behind the TV (assuming you have at least 2.6 inches between the TV and the wall). The only downside is that they only come with one plug (which can power up to three lights/devices), so if you wanted to split the two bars elsewhere you'd need another plug. I ended up mounting them behind my TV, since I have a wall-mounted TV. The process was very easy and didn't require any tools - there's a hex screw to mount the lights to the included stands, and then the stands attach to the back of the TV using adhesive mounts. Setup in the Hue Sync app is very simple, and it lets you move the location of the light bars to match your setup. I use the Hue Play Sync HDMI Box, which is a little more complicated to set up but is very effective at syncing the lights with the content on TV.

I have a 75 inch TV in my home theater area that was burning my retinas out during viewing in a dark room. I have been looking at bias lighting strips, but decided on these lights after seeing some nice setups on the net. All the strips I saw would have required trimming and modification, and I prefer a simple installation process. I had these lights installed on the back of my TV along with the Hue Bridge and app in probably a half hour. The lighting control and color combinations are literally endless, and I noticed less eye fatigue almost immediately, which was my main goal all along. I like it so much I kind of want to add another pair to the bottom of the TV, but I'm going to play with this setup for a while before I make a decision. Highly recommend these lights! One thing of note. The cords are only a meter long. If you're mounting them high, you'll probably want the separate extension cords sold separately. I bought them but wound up not needing them as I had enough slack to run the wires through the wall into the power strip. Something to think about though!

The title says it all. He’s light bars are awesome. They are easy to hook up and the uses are endless. If you’re already rolling with Hue, these should be in your rig. Especially so now that they have released chainable additional single bars. Dat Hue price tho! Not cheap, but worth it. They also come with mount/stands that provide a few different, useful placement options.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

I am a big fan of Philips Hue products. Not cheap, but if you are looking for dramatic lighting accents for a space, then Hue is the product. Purchased it for a wooden cabinet under a TV. The objective was to cast a color spray under the TV and light up the wall behind it. Like all Hue products, the setup and integration into the other lights in the house was seamless. However, as this light is intended for attaching to the back of the TV, or wall, or a piece of furniture, setup was a challenge at best. Brackets are provided that mount to a surface with a 3M adhesive pad. Positioning mistakes result in a real challenge and the old adhesive pad is near impossible to get rid of. Finally, from the front of the light set up, it performs perfectly and I love the effect. However, from a side view, the light is too thick and is rather a bit ugly. You take the bad with the good.

If these were a bit more affordable, I would sprinkle them all over the house! Phillips continues to make new effects & scenes to do cool new things. These are perfect for elevating your gaming or movie experience, mood lighting at the end of the day to relax, set the mood for a party, literally anything!

I got these to use as bias lighting for my gaming pc / desk set up. I am happy with them because I very much knew what I was getting into. They are pretty expensive for what they do and don't necessarily think they are for everyone. I wasn't terribly excited to be paying $130 for these lights--and once I had them set up, I didn't feel all that much more excited to have paid it. They aren't bad lights, but they are by no means a great value. That said, if they do fit your use case, I think you will be very happy with them. First of all, if you are interested in this product specifically because of its adaptive sync lighting effects, I would caution you. Personally, I have yet to find much of a use for hue sync software. Even on the low intensity setting, it feels much more distracting than immersive and doesn't really improve the gaming / viewing experience. It's a neat gimmick to turn on every once in a blue moon but I think if you're buying these just for that feature, you're going to be underwhelmed. But, as a colorful bias/ambient lighting that can be controlled with Hue software, they work fantastic. They are easy to set up (if you already have a base station set up) and they integrate seamlessly with my other lights / accessories. So basically, if you are a "hue person" and you're looking for some colorful bias lighting for a relatively small area (I think if I'd put these behind a large TV, I'd have been a little disappointed by just one set), you'll be really happy with these. But if you're a person that doesn't get that excited by customizable mood lighting, then I don't know that these lights are going to convert you.

I originally got these to use a couple with my Arcade1up cabinets but I liked them so much ended up getting more to use behind my speakers by my projector screen. They are very bright and have a nice rich vibrant color. They sync just as easy as any other hue product with the app. If these last many years, I think it justifies the price. I've had great luck with the traditional A19 bulbs so if these are of the same quality, I will be very happy. So far these have been a great investment and really does a great job adding color to my what would otherwise be a dark basement. :)

We’ve got several Hue bulbs, light strips, and the Play lights. This is our second set of Play lights bought the first in 2016. Both are behind our wall mounted TVs. Adds a nice ambiance to the room with or without watching TV. You need the Hue hub if this is your first Hue product. Easy set up with the Hue app on your phone. From the app you control colors, schedule on and off times as well as days of the week you want the lights on. Hue has scenes you can use which changes colors in a slow, fluid way.

These things get BRIGHT! I have one on each side of the back of my tv, they are stuck to the back with the included adhesive. I use to have to turn on my lamp when I wake up in the morning but I can use these and set each one to maximum brightness and can see everything in my room clearly. I got the sync box to go with it and setup was easy. It’s an even cooler touch when you have one light red or green and then the other light a completely different color.

Overall have been waiting to buy these for about a year now and I’m super happy I did. They look fantastic in my setup with their orientation, and I can easily move them if I wanted to! The Hue Bridge was easy to set up with this too so I can eventually add more Smart Lighting! My personal favorite scenes are the Aurora, and Nebula, but tend to stick to Purple to match my color scheme! The normal white can look a little washed out, so if you have Alexa or Google Nest, ask it to turn the color to “Snow” and it acts as a “True White”!

I have purchased 2 of these and want more now. It was easy to install and setup. I downloaded app to my phone so I can now also mess already with the colors of the light. I use 2 different colored lights at the same time and it looks so nice. The cables are a good length so I can keep them apart if need be.

I decided to create a game room with a ton of LED lights. I wanted high quality and high color output from the lights and hands down Philip Hue was the way to go. 1. Crisp colors 2. Dimmable lights 3. Easy install 4. Easy control 5. Multitudes of colors to cycle through 6. Fantastic brightness with all colors. 7. Easy to use Philip Hue app. 8. Excellent quality 9. Excellent adhesive on back and stays where a person puts them. 10. Easily controlled by smart assistants. Love that feature. All around a great product to purchase to do a wide array of projects in the house. But, without a doubt Philip Hue lights are the way to go for all the quality and the best color output. Can’t go wrong with them. All the lights play together so well over WiFi and a person can control each light strip and play bar individually. The Philip Hue lights can turn a dull room into an exciting one real quick. My friends that come over spend most of the time in my game room because of my Philip Hue lights. Check out my pictures of what I did with my Philip Hue lights in my game room and I’m not near finished with it yet.

Pricy... but definitely a great addition to your Hue collection! Many things you could do with them. Very cool when connecting it to an “entertainment area” no delays when sycing with the picture on the screen! Tough to capture the true look/colors in a picture but I’ll add one anyway.
