They need to be relatively close to the wall for the effect to work. I think a foot and a half away would be the absolute furthest you could go and even that might be a bit underwhelming. They are also quite bright so you don't want them somewhere where you can look directly at them.

My 65" sits on a TV stand (glass) and because I have an Oak Wall Cabinet on the top and both sides, the TV looks better flushed to the front, rather than pushed back. I've pulled my TV out more towards the front, leaving it about 18" from the rear wall. The effect is what I wanted. Above the television and below, these lights project very well. The effect I wanted is the ability to vary the colors and have them blend in the center. Blue on one side... Red on the other... makes Purple in the middle where the colors mix... But that's just my preference. They are bright enough that your corner mount should do just fine. I hope that helped...
