I am not using the smartthings hub but everything I have read says that you do need the hue bridge. The hue bridge gives you connectivity to the lights. The smartthings bridge connects the different brands to a common control point.

Yes; the Samsung Smarthings hub communicates with the Philips Hue hub to control the Philips Hue lisghts.

Yes you still need the hue smart bridge. Once you have the bridge you can control them with the Harmony remote

You will need the Hue bridge to operate your lights. The bridge creates a separate WiFi network for your lights.

Yes I believe so. Now I say this because I had my Hue bridge setup before I setup my Smart Things hub, but it seemed as if the Smart Things hub located the Hue bridge and then all of the lights. So I believe you will need to have the Hue starter kit to get going. I haven't tried the lights without the bridge though so I wouldn't argue with someone if they've had success without it.

Depends which smarth items you have but if you don't have the one for lights yes you need it

Technically no, but you won't be able to unpair them from your smartthings hub if you decide to buy a Philips bridge later on.
