“Does PHONO input needs line in or it has pre-amp built in?”

There is a provision for a PHONO input with a ground connection. I have only had this amp for a couple of weeks, and have not hooked up my turntable. I can say this is fabulous and powerful receiver that will provide you with great sound if you have the speakers to go along with it. Check out the Pioneer Manual on their website. I plan to print it out because there are so many features that are only known by checking out the manual itself.
