How close does it need to be to your device to work? If possible I would rather not wear my phone on my arm while I'm working out.

I often wear a flip belt or pocket, but I also wear them while working and have device not on me. It will work 20-30feet away from me. Sometime I'm in shock how well it does work when device is no where near me.

I also set my device on treadmill and works fine that way too. So to answer your question, yes it should work fine as long as it eye shot of your BT device.

In my experience, I've been about 100 feet indoors line of sight and have not lost connection or noticed poor connection. Going around corners and down hallways kills it though.

I have used my headphones from a couple of rooms away and have left my phone in my gym bag (within one common room) and used the headphones without any problems.

You dont need to have it on your arm. Lots of times I have it in my pocket when working out and its just fine.

I have been able to walk away from my phone at the gym close to 30 feet and not had a problem, maybe a slight break up or static. I think if you are within 10 feet you shouldn't have a problem, I never workout with my phone physically on me it is in a binder next to me.

I use my kindle fire hp with my headset. I put the fire in my workout bag and the headset does not have any issues up to 20 to 25 feet away.
