Yes! I bought these to use for work and gaming. For me, that means an XBOX One X for games and a Macbook for work. If it's a newer MacBook he is also going to need a USB-C to USB adapter. The headphones come with a small adapter they use rather than Bluetooth.

When the volume wheel is turned on the headphones, no matter how little you move the volume wheel, the Mac volume will either go all the way down, or all the way up. There is no way to control the volume any other way. Trying to use the keyboard volume buttons do nothing since the headphone volume control supercedes the Mac volume control.
