• If using under the USB 3.0 spec 5V, 900ma, it shouldn't.

• In using mine I notice that it does get warm, for this reason I only use it in my office when on line power to conserve battery. It does not get hot, but getting warm means the device is using some power to do all of its conversion magic for all the different types of ports. When traveling to connect anther older USB device I use a single port adapter that does not use any power.
