This adapter has been a life saver! I have the 13" M1 MacBook Pro and it's been so frustrating dealing with dongles and having to live with only two USB C slots. With this adapter, I am able to quickly use a USB drive when I need to without using a whole dongle that sucks power from my laptop.

I needed to transfer data from an old iMac (2009) to a new M1 iMac and this device allowed me to connect a Sandisk USB drive seamlessly. Inexpensive and easy to use on a Mac with no USB Type-A port.

There is nothing functionally wrong with this item. With that said, after using the adaptor a few days, I realize that it sticks out really far from the laptop. When the device is plugged into the adaptor, it becomes a hazard for potential damage to the adaptor or the laptops receptacle as it is more vulnerable to being hit or bumped. I will use this in emergencies but since then I have purchased an adaptor that has some cable between the input and output which is a lot safer for my devices as the distance is much shorter an is the same as using any usb cable.

Connects USB-A devices to your USB-C Chromebook

The Platinum USB-C to USB adapter is a tiny device that allows me to connect my PNY SSD to my Chromebook and it works perfectly. My HP Chromebook only has USB-C ports and I wanted to connect my external PNY SSD drive to my Chromebook.
The PNY SSD came with a USB-A connector so I needed a USB-A to USB-C adapter. After using the adapter, I was able to view and access the files on the PNY SSD from my Chromebook.
This adapter could also be used in the opposite direction to connect a USB-C device to a computer with only USB-A ports.
Very useful adapter and I can heartily recommend it to anyone needing such a device.

Perfect Little Adapter

I have always been a fan of Platinum products due to the level of quality and care they put into it. I was in need of a simple adapter to convert my USB-C into a USB for some legacy equipment. I had some cheap ones in the past that I always ran into problems where I would randomly loose connection on slightest movement. I decided to spend a little more and get the Platinum on which I am so glad I did. This adapter provide a perfect snug fit, no issues of connection drops however it is very small so try not to loose it! I do find it funny how they cram so much reading material in the small package. When I say cram I am not joking, the reading material is literally folding into 4 ways then thrown into the box. Overall I recommend this product !

Great Tech For Connections

The Platinum USB A to USB C Adapter is a must have in today’s computer environment. Different kinds of computer tech like Laptops, Macbooks, iPads or Chromebooks, all have different kinds and speeds and connections. The plug in play USB-C adapter will carry information up to 5 Gbps to transfer films, documents, etc.
If you buy a new computer, no doubt it will have other connections than your 2 yr old computer. That is why the Platinum USB A to USB C adapter is so important. For example what if you do have a USB C connection but your mouse is a USB 2.0. What do you do? Get this adapter and transform the USB C plug into a USB 3.0 connection that fits your USB 2.0 mouse. The Platinum USB A to USB C will not disappoint. It has a tough exterior that looks and protects the adapter itself. Don’t pass this opportunity up to get a useful product.

Great USB-A to USB-C Adapter!

This is a short review because this just works. It does exactly what it is designed to do. I am sure you have many USB-A devices like mice, keyboards, external drives/flash, etc. All my new PC/Mac ( HP Spectre & MacBook Pro) have USB-C connections. This adapter allows all those devices to work seamlessly with those USB-C connections. Most importantly, all my USB drives now easily work with my two USB-C based computers. Nice!

So the product works, but it adds extra space to the USB C area. Unless you have something you cannot replace with a USB C cable, I probably wouldn't go with this. If you do need to connect a USB A to a USB C only computer, then this will work.

Great quality, and works well. I have an HP Spectre laptop that has 2 usb-c inputs and only 1 regular usb. This works so well that I bought a second one for my J5create dock that has a usb-c port that I wanted to use for a regular usb. I was worried it wouldnt send enough power through to run my razor mouse like the non 3.0 usb port on my dock, but with this so far I have never had a problem with any accessory not working... I have not used it for flash drive yet but I’m sure it’ll work for that as well... its super light and small enough I can use both on my laptop ports at the same as my existing hdmi with no room issues. I like that it fits a bit snug when an hdmi is inserted because I’ve drop my tethered mouse while walking or off the table while plugged the mouse will dangle, but there’s no fear of my port beding or getting messed up. Its a sturdy build. I also have not noticed any lag, or drag using it.

Perfect for connecting a game controller, or backing up photos straight from the device with any thumb drive. Compact enough for travel to carry with other devices such as portable batteries and other cables. The only drawback I have encountered is that depending on your phone case you might need to remove phone case to use.

While small, this little device is great to keep in my box with my other USB accessories so I can quickly use it to bridge USB flash drives using the A-connector to USB-C ports. Allows booting from compatible flash drives and optical drives and hard drives that don't need the "second port" power to operate.
I have not tested this with devices it has to seriously power, such as my Launchpad, Launchpad S, Launchpad Compact, my MIDI interfaces, 2 DMX interfaces, my Presonus audio interface yet. If this becomes an issue, I can use a powered USB hub to ensure the are powered properly.
The only negative so far is the size. It's easy to lose, but it's also steel so if you have a magnet, it can stick.

Road Trip Necessity

EXACTLY what I needed. My wife and I were going on a road trip and we rented a Mercedes SUV to drive. After the deal was done, we got into the vehicle and realized that all the ports in the vehicle... and i mean ALL the ports... were USB C (the small one, like for your cell phone). We like to play music off of our USB thumb drive, but we had no big ports to plug it into. One mad dash to Best Buy and I found this handy little adapter. My only regret.. I wish I had gotten two. It worked great for playing our music and our road trip was saved.

I bought this to go with a cable to hook my printer to my phone/ laptop & it fit my phone & cord to the printer perfectly. The only con is when I connect it to my phone I have to take my phone case off each time because it won't fit into the port on my phone.

Unlike the dongles that lay all over your desk, these are compact and extend the usb connection on your peripheral by about an inch. Picked this up on clearance and for that price it was more convenient to buy several and just keep them connected to each external drive's cable instead of trying to find it each time I want to connect an external drive.
Seems very well made and the metal construction is much less flimsy than the typical plastic adapter. My only regret is not picking up a few more.

I purchased a USB Hub a few months ago as my laptop only came with two USB A ports and two USB C. Unfortunately with the hub, the unused ports will bleed out signal for wireless devices and cause interference (this coming from the manufacturer of the hub).
So instead of having wireless devices going through the hub, I put wired connections into it and used this adapter for the wireless ones. Seems to be working well enough. I'm not getting any delays or interference since I switched over, the installation was plug-and-play., and the price point was great.

The must have accessary if you have a new laptop computer with only USB C ports. I bought two of them since I have two USB C ports on my laptop. These are very compact and there are no wires involved so they do not stick out very far from the laptop edge. A very clean look and uncomplicated set up. They work perfectly with no problems so far and they didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Cheap and Works Perfectly

This little adapter works perfectly for when I don't want to get my big USB-dongle hub out. I mainly use this to connect my external HDDs to my newer USB-C only MacBook. Using the adapter does not affect transfer speed in any noticeable way and I just keep it attached to the drive to keep it from getting lost.
It is very small and is made of a durable metal material and leaves just enough space next to the other USB-C port on my MacBook for plugging in something small like a charge cable.

I bought a new Ford F250 truck that now had one USB A and USB C connection instead of the two usb a connections my previous truck had. I use one connection to connect my phone for apple CarPlay but also had a usb thumb drive with all of my catalog of music. I bought this item to remedy my situation. It worked perfectly. It is also very small so it does not stick out and get in the way of my center console area. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to do the same.

I went into the store in Chattanooga TN and was going to get the apple brand of the adaptor for my New Mac book pro and the agent in the store told me about this adaptor and pointed out that is comes in handy because it doesn't have the cord cable like the apple brand and it's way cheaper in pricing from the apple brand. so I went ahead and got this one and for sure it is way best with out the cord and still functions the same. I definitely would buy this again and or recommend to a friend.
