I doubt it. I'd think if it could be done in software they'd hopefully tell us, and I doubt they'd add that soon (if at all). Probably a cost cutting measure. I'm pretty surprised it's just $400, but I guess going with a "regular" Blu Ray drive was one of the sacrifices.

PS5 will do all this stuff and is only a few years away 2019 or 2020 at longest. PRO is just a performance boost for PS4.

Not at all. It would require a hardware update, not a software update. If they wanted to add that in the future to this console, then they would have included it already in this one. It doesnt make sense for them to recall all of the consoles just to give it UHD Blu Ray support.

I could see them putting one in possibly in the future but you can't just update a non 4K native Bluray player and make it true 4K to watch movies....

There won't be a software update that can change the hardware of the blu-ray drive. Sony will either make a blu-ray DVD player or re vamp this system to compete with Microsoft Project Scorpio
