If you have a desktop you can pull out your old drive and plug it into it, then use acronis to pick what files you want to add to the ssd. Install the new ssd and boot your laptop up.

I can say that this PNY drive comes with a license key for the Acronis True Image software. Acronis TI has a "backup creator" feature that you can use to, well, create a backup from which your system can be restored in the case of a crash. It also has the cloning feature that will clone your existing hard drive onto this SSD. Though, you will have to have some way to connect the new SSD to the PC. I ended up buying an Insignia HD to USB 3.0 enclosure from BestBuy at the same time I bought this SSD. Along with the Acronis software, that allowed me to do the clone myself. Afterwards I swapped out the drives, so now I have the super fast SSD in my laptop, and the "old" factory HD in the enclosure which I'm using it as a backup drive.
