• Yes. The Polar H7 monitor is needed.

• There are 2 versions of the A300 that are available to purchase. One is sold with the heart rate sensor and the other does not. If one were to purchase the A300 minus the chest strap initially, they can purchase it as a separate accessory - Mike @ PolarUSA
