Does this work on handheld mode for the switch?? null

Yes it does, when ever im watching tv and my GF wants to play she uses the gamecube controller to play handheld. You can use it just as you can with the joy cons.

It can, yes. Just go to the controller menu from the main Switch screen and sync with the internal settings of the Switch and the physical button on the controller. You can always disconnect it from that controller/grip order menu as well so that you can use the attached joycons instead when you're done with the controller.
