“Is there a way to change the settings to have the camera active and recording but have a just a regular view of my mirror? I feel like if the camera is viewing images from the camera while driving then it will cause a distraction”

Hello! Yes. You can always turn off the display of the dashcam while keeping the regular dashcam operations working in the background. To do this, simply press the power button at the bottom of the dashcam to turn off the display.
