“My cam is hard wired. Do I have to connect the wifi every time I drive my truck in order for it to record? If I got pulled over by the police and wanted to show them my speed or that I was in fact wearing my seatbelt, can I just playback on my phone ?”

Hello, the Wi-Fi is used solely to transfer footage wirelessly from your dashcam to your phone. You don’t need Wi-Fi for the dashcam to record.
