Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not personally tried to mount the sensor on the garage door but someone on Am-xxn who wrote a review was able to. He mounted the sensors working part on one part of the garage doors and the magnetic part on the another part just below. So when the doors open, the two pieces of the sensors separate, it will trigger. Anorher person mounted the sensor on the wall or frame of the door and the magnetic piece on the moving part of the door. However the amount or distance of the separation or gap between sensor and magnetic piece has to be greater than about 1/2 inch to trigger and remain apart when door is open. Also sensor and magnetic piece within less than 1/4 inch apart when closed.
