Good question! In order to set up a Ring device, you do need the Ring app installed on a smartphone or tablet. Our app is compatible with IOS, Android and Fire operating systems. I haven’t seen a way to install without using a smartphone. It is very easy to install and use once you do install the app on a smartphone. I have 4 cameras and everything works seem less with no problems. I recommend always going with wired cameras over battery. Especially if it’s facing a round with a lot of traffic. This will drain you battery quickly.
