I think it is just motion detection. You can set the time for how long you want the light to stay on after it has detected motion.

Yes, you can set a schedule for the light to come on from dusk to dawn. To access controls for the Ring device please follow these steps: Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (☰). Tap Devices. Select the Ring device that you want to adjust. Tap the Device Schedule tile. Tap Light Schedules.
