You can set the level of the camera’s motion sensitivity. I set mine to only capture motion of a person, but you can choose a more sensitive setting.

I bought this camera originally to use to monitor a new kitten that I had gotten until the wellness time passed and I knew it was safe to introduce her to my existing cat. It was a great comfort to know that I could see and check on her when I was out and when she woke up which kept me from checking on her when she was sleeping.
