yes. Wifi is required. 2.4 ghz. Small Technical tip: (Ignore if it sounds too techy Doesn't apply to everyone) if you live in a congested neighborhood with lots of wifi signals and camera isn't picking it up very well. Change WIFI channel to 11. Normally i believe it uses channel 6. but it can busy and some Wifi Routers have a hard time with this and the camera will reflect that not working properly and wifi going out. BUT changing mine to channel 11 i've dramatically seen a change with No wifi signal drops.
