Yes it records as long as you have a ring protect subscription it will work and record to the the cloud.  Don’t worry about capacity ring has you covered

Yes, it’s a camera, and records to a cloud server. Can be turned on and off.

it can record to the cloud, but there is a fee for this service. i don't think there's a limitation to how long it records, but there is a limit of 60 days of video history.
