Hello Nightvision,

Great question! The Indoor Cam uses infrared motion capturing to detect motion within its field of view. You can use the Ring app to determine the camera’s motion detection range and the specific zones where motion will trigger a smart alert. There is a visible IR light that appears when the device captures motion in low light conditions. A few things to keep in mind about IR and our Ring devices:
1. Make sure the Indoor Cam’s infrared light is toggled on in the Ring app. The infrared light control is in your Ring app under Video Settings.

2. If your camera is facing a window, the infrared light can be turned off. If the field of view for your camera is not well-lit, this could be cause for spotty detection at night.

3. Enable color night vision in your Ring app to help improve clarity at night.
