How close does this wireless need to be to your WIFI? null

it depends on the strength of your wifi, if your phone can detect your network, then this will as well.

My router is upstairs and the camera in downstairs. It works with no apparent slowdowns or interruptions. Straightline distance is probably 40-50 feet
