Connects to your phone and use your phone storage. If you have the paid service they keep 30 days worth (may be 60 days). It activates when motion is detected by the alarm system. Hope this helps. New to the system so still learning.

Example: everytime it's record motion detection, it's storages in iCloud for you and so you can always go back to view the recording. Which requires a fee to used.
