  • QuestionHow do you know when the battery has to be charged?

    Asked by maria.

    • Answer Hi maria. Great question! When the battery in one of your battery-operated Ring cameras or doorbells falls below a 30% charge, your Ring app will warn you with a low battery notification. This notification can be found in three different places within the app: You’ll receive a low battery message similar to the motion notices you currently receive. You’ll see a red "low battery" icon on your device dashboard. You’ll see a red dot that opens into a "battery tip" on your event timeline. • QuestionIf I have a solar panel with my spotlight Camera, do I still need batteries?

    Asked by wpctlc.

    • Answer Hi wpctlc. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. Yes, a battery is still required to power the camera. The Ring Solar Panel provides a trickle charge to the battery in compatible devices to increase time between charges. The device's battery level may vary based on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives. It is important to ensure that your Ring Solar Panel is installed correctly and that it is receiving enough direct sunlight to operate as intended. For best performance, Ring recommends at least two to three hours of direct sunlight for the Ring Solar Panel. With the recommended amount of direct sunlight, the device will remain continuously charged under most conditions.
