Hello Lotus19, No, you don't have to connect the Ring Stick Up Wire Free Cam to a Ring Video Doorbell to view activity detected by the camera. We believe it's important that a potential customer have clear product features and specifications available to them prior to purchase. While subscribed to one of our optional Ring Protect Plans, you will be able to access videos from every motion and live view event for up to 60 days (US). You can also access, download, and share past Ring videos. Without this service, you will still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone as well as have access to the Live View feature.
