  • QuestionHow far out will this camera pick up movement?

    Asked by Plaem.

    • Answer Hello Plaem, Ring products “see” the world through a network of three linked passive infrared (PIR) sensors. These are heat sensors that detect motion by monitoring heat within the detection area. Since people are hotter than the surrounding areas, as a person enters the detection area, the heat measurements change. The motion sensors register this change as movement and send out an alert. In addition, the PIR sensors are pointed downward to detect motion from five feet to 30 feet away, while minimizing notifications from things like traffic. This article will help you set up your Motion Zones and give you some tips in making them more effective: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022462472-Utilizing-Motion-Detection-with-your-Ring-Battery-Devices. • QuestionCan you sync multiple of these cameras say 3 to 5 all over your house or business?

    Asked by Jhowade.

    • Answer Hi Jhowade, Yes, our Linked Devices feature allows you to connect your Ring devices together, and provides instructions for that group of devices to begin functioning whenever any of them are activated. Say, for example, that a motion triggers one of your Ring Cameras that you placed outside. It notifies you and begins recording* as usual. That's when Linked Devices takes over. Because you've linked your outdoor camera to your other cameras, they immediately begin recording. In this way, your Ring devices are able to react and protect you as a team. It is important to note that videos will only be recorded and stored if you have an active Ring Protect Plan.
