Yes. It is an equipment designed for outdoor use. So it is expected to get exposed to the elements. It is recommended though that you hard wire it to a constant power supply such as wiring from an existing wired door bell. Heat is always bad for any battery so direct sunlight will quickly deteriorate your unit's battery and shorten it's charge-re charge cycle.

I sometimes get one motion detection when the sun rises, but other than that it hasn't been an issue.

Same here....there’s a bright glare/light that prevents you from seeing further but if it’s up close it’s perfectly fine.
