QuestionHow secure is the mounting? What's to stop someone from taking a small pry bar and yanking it off the door frame?

- Answer Nothing - if someone wants to take a pry bar to the frame they will get it - damaging both the ring and your door at the same time. There are built in theft deterrents that will make it hard to steal, but if someone REALLY wants it, they will get it. The good news is that Ring has a policy that they will replace the doorbell if it ever gets stolen so you will have that security blanket for the life that you are a customer.

QuestionMy existing doorbell is to the side of my door. Can I install the ring in a different spot so I can get a frontal view of my yard/street? If so how do I get rid of my old hardwired door bell and will I also need to buy a chime?

- Answer If you leave the motion detector on. It does both I can see when people leave and come to the house. And it saves the motion so I can see what time my kids get home at night.

- Answer They CAN be hard-wired into any existing doorbell system or if you do not have any current door bell, you can use the units internal battery that lasts several months at a time. Its pretty flexible.

- Answer Yes you do if you want the doorbell at each location. You can buy just the camera if you don't need a door bell at the back door.

- Answer 3 dollars a month or 30 a year. There is no storage on your phone. If you want to keep the video it has to be done in the Cloud which is not made abundantly clear on the box!

- Answer Your battery status’s is shown on your phone through the ring app. If your talking about charging it via usb. Around the ring of the button door bell. It will blink lights as it charges . When it’s fully charged it will show a complete lit circle of blue light. Hope this was helpful

- Answer You can set the distance from 5 to 30 ft. There are several zones that it allows you to set up.

- Answer They are meant to be outside and mine has been through rain and snow already so I'm thinking it's at least weather/water resistant. Mine is mounted to the outside of a metal screen door and I haven't had any issues. The bigger issue for you may be the distance from the gate to your house as they do need to connect to WiFi.

- Answer No. This unit will fail. Worse, when you call customer support, you will not find anybody to actually help you. Our unit failed after only one month. Complete waste of money.

- Answer You will have to mount the device using screws. You will have to load the “Ring” app onto your phone or pad. You will have to enter the information requested by the App to connect the device to your network. You will be prompted by the app for the info. If you can hang a picture and add a device to your wireless network, you’ll be good to go!

- Answer To my knowledge, the Ring 2 is just easier to detach if you need to charge the ring doorbell. If you have it hard wired, in my opinion, you do not need the Ring 2.

- Answer You have to remove the security screws holding the item to the door and take inside and charge overnight with a normal USB cable. Security screws securing product to wall are small and easily stripped, so be careful removing them.

- Answer Ring has a few built in security devices to deter theft, but if someone wants it, they are going to get it. The good news is that Ring has a warranty/policy that they will replace your doorbell if it ever gets stolen, so you will always have that security policy for the life of the device or the company.

- Answer Hi Steve872, Great question! With normal use, the battery of your Ring Spotlight Cam Battery will last between 6 to 12 months or approximately 1,000 notification events. The battery may deplete faster if your Ring is capturing a large number of amount of motion events every day. The Ring app will notify you when the battery is getting low. Your Ring Video Doorbell is charged using a common micro-USB cable (an orange one is included in your Ring box). The micro-USB cable can be plugged into any USB power source such as a computer. Your Ring Video Doorbell will take around five to 10 hours to fully charge. I hope this helps! Bilan J, Customer Satisfaction Specialist [email protected]
