As far as your delayed motion alert, check your wifi connect and speed

Check you Wifi signal strength. The system might drain battery down trying to get good reception. 45sec delay in viewing motion alert might be due to the same reason. Also check your motion & alert setting as high settings would drain the battery too.

Just do the $100 for a year. It is minimal for peace of mind. 6 weeks is good. The spotlight cam battery only lasts 4 to 5 days. Just asking but its a battery. How long you want it to last? Takes 2 seconds to pull it out when I am home to recharge.

Try hard wiring it to your existing doorbell. I had the same issue until I hard wired mine.

I would use the connection from your existing door bell and connect it that way, so it will always be hard wired.

How cold is it? Ring only works to -4 F. Cold saps the batteries. Even while connected to house power. My sister in law has one in North Dakota and it is useless below zero and sporadic under freezing.
