  • QuestionIf you have multiple doorbells, Do you need a separate chime for each unit?

    Asked by Everything.

    • Answer Hello Everything, This is a great question, as it's important to have accurate information when customizing your Ring system to suit your needs. The Ring Chime may be connected to multiple devices and will chime when a motion is detected, or the doorbell is pressed. If you would like the devices to chime separately, or with distinct tones, you may want to employ a separate chime for each Ring Doorbell. Each home environment is unique, and I want to ensure you have your Ring security set up exactly to meet your safety needs. • QuestionDo you have to connect to wires or is it battery operated?

    Asked by Tay.

    • Answer Hi Tay, The all-new Ring Video Doorbell Wired requires an existing doorbell system, Ring plug-in adapter or transformer for power supply (10-24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz, or 24VDC, 0.5A, 12W). This doorbell does not have an option for battery power. However, if you require a battery powered doorbell please check out our Ring Video Doorbell (2020 Release) or Ring Video Doorbell 3. • QuestionWhat kind of wall plate do we need for this door bell??

    Asked by Zaik.

    • Answer Hi Zaik. Good question. No, you do not need a wall plate to install the Ring Video Doorbell Wired. The Ring Video Doorbell Wired is designed to be installed directly on the wall. On stucco, brick, or concrete, use a 1/4" (6mm) masonry bit to drill holes in your wall, then insert the included wall anchors. If you're installing it on wood or siding, you can skip this step. • QuestionDoes this unit connect to existing doorbell wiring? Also, will it ring the existing door bell chime?

    Asked by RingDoorbell.

    • Answer Hello RingDoorbell, Great question! The Ring Doorbell Wired uses an included jumper cable to bypass your home’s internal chime kit, so it will not ring inside. If you’d like audio notifications inside your home, you’ll need to purchase a Ring Chime to hear them. All of Ring’s other battery and hardwired doorbell models (Ring Doorbell Pro, Ring Doorbell Pro 2, Ring Doorbell (2020 Release), Ring Doorbell 3/3+, and Ring Doorbell 4) will work with in home chime kits and AC current doorbell transformers. Here is a full product comparison which details power requirements for each device: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004668746-Ring-Video-Doorbells-Product-Comparison. Asked by Bud.

    • Answer As of october 19, 2021, my Samsung smart TV does not have/support the Ring app. I'd guess a smart TV using the an Android system is the only system sure to work right now. (Roku also lacks the app.)
