If I understand your question, it allows you to hook up various pieces of equipment that require HDMI connection with just one HDMI port. For me, it is a blueray DVD player and a Roku. The extra HDMI outlets are inaccessible, so this gives me three ports from one. Is that what you wanted to know? Cable brings the signal into your house, this carries the signal between AV equipment. HDMI has the best clarity

This is a better quality cable than the one you got with your instalation, IT HAS BETTER TRANSMISION RATE OF DATA. It should give you bettter sound and pitcure if you are not happy with what you have. I GET BETTER SOUND AND PICTURE ON MY TV.
