DVD players are very inexpensive. You cannot retrofit one for HDMI. Just break down and purchase a new DVD player.

Not sure what is meant by round plugs. Is the TV setup with RCA plugs ? an S-Connector? And the DVD player the HDMI connection? If so then you need a conversion box that translates the HDMI signal to RCA. This cable would go from the DVD player to the conversion box

Unfortunately there is not. the three or five round plugs on your DVD player send out a different type of signal than the HDTV receives. There are some adapters that can solve this, but the ones that work cost upwards of $80 online. Its cheaper to buy a new DVD player in the long run.

Most HDTVs take HDMI cable with flat heads on the ends, NOT round ends. The round ends are for Coaxle cables, NOT for DVD Players that require HDMI cable that are flat heads.

The round plug-in cables you are referring to are either coaxial cables or rca cables. Those are for analog signals. The HDMI is for digital signals. You would need a separate converter to turn your old dvd player's analog output into a digital one. You're better off buying a new blu-ray player.
