Is this a 2.0a cable? I am connecting a Samsung 850D (same as the 8500) using DirecTv using this cable but I am getting a message that the connections are not 4K compatible.

It is definitely a 4k cable. There must be something else wrong in the signal chain. Perhaps the DirecTV set-top box and/or configurations.

I would check with DirecTv / AT&T. As far as I know they do not have 4k quality transmissions ? Try a standard HDMI cable.

Yes, the cable is HDMI 2.0. Equipment at both ends should be HDMI 2.0 ports. I don't believe that DirecTv provides a 4k signal on the HDMI, just HDTV. Also, the 850D has the Mini One Connect box. Are all of the HDMI ports 2.0 like they are for 9000 Series full size One Connect?

I used the cable to connect my PC HDMI 2.0 port to a Sumsung JS9000 and everything is working fine at 4K resolution.

Try unplugging and plugging them back in, or switch which hdmi connection is connected to each device. I would suggest one of the mid-grade monster cables. They work nicely with 4K.

This cable is HDMI 2.0 however it is likely your DirecTV device that is not capable of 4K resolution.
