Do you really need a concrete answer? I bought these new protectors, and guess what, I'm not having a single second thought -about any of it. Got them on clearance / sale. Was very easy decision for me. Here's my viewpoint: you spend 1500$ on new 4K HDR tv, and you put it on the line for a few bucks.... risky, maybe dumb. 23.99 clearance, plus HDMI cable. "Easy"
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes they do wear out and fail and that is why we purchased a new one. In fact, our old computer may have crashed because the power supply had failed and I didn't know it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.By a tester and use it to determine if it still works.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes...they definitely fail. Every time it's hit with a surge, it chips away at the joules it's designed to protect. My guess is yours is way overdue and is just allowing straight power to your equipment...including surges in power. Newer ones will have better surge protecting technology (how much better varies....ALL better than 12 yrs ago) and some have technology that keeps power more consistent, but no, will not improve picture quality....unless you're still watching a tv that's 30 yrs old that doesn't have its own power distribution/regulation.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They can fail if a surge happens but failing means the unit fails but the devices they are protecting are safe. I have seen the need to replace the batteries in older models but sometimes the price of a new one is almost as much as the battery.
