You may need to use the 11pin Samsung adapter. Contact Samsung for what setting changes are necessary for the Phone to output through the MHL connection.

This is a very cheap alternative from portable device to TV. 90% percent the answer would be no. It's a hit or miss. When it comes to MHL connection is very bad because it is not standardize. You will have a better luck on Google's ChromeCast or Amazon Fire TV or Apple TV or Roku. I'll give you a hint - From a Samsung cable to Samsung device to a Samsung TV wouldn't even work properly. What more with a different manufacturer.
