I would take it back to best buy and exchange it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The latches are there as a safety to keep the TV from being taken off the mount accidentally. If you don't have small children around, or the TV is not generally touched, I would just let it continue to be as it is. I recommend against altering the mount in any way as you never know what it will do to it.. If you have concerns with it coming off the mount, I would suggest purchasing a new mount.
