• Depending on the weight of the TV, it might make a difference, but the mount comes with 4 large lag screws that are 3-4" long, so as long as your studs are more or less in the center of the mount, it should work. You absolutely need to screw the bracket to the wall into studs, not drywall!!

• I am not sure but i do remember it stating in the instructions a minimum of 16"
